[Bio]

Louis CK is the current reigning king of comedy. After spending years toiling as a stand up comedian, Louis CK has taken the mantle as the most important stand up today because he not only makes you laugh with his ridiculous and silly topics, but he takes on the social mores and stereotypes and hypocrisies that touch our lives everyday and points them back at us to show us how ridiculous our most heart-felt beliefs really are. And not to mention he has some of the most important quotes in comedy because they aren't only funny, but they make you think.

Whether it's race or gender or parenting, Louis CK has used humor to make us rethink almost everything. From the N word to what it's like to be white (it's great, apparently!) to the choices you have to make when raising children in this day and age, Louis CK is just straight up awesome.

Born Louis Szekely on September 12, 1967 in Washington D.C. he spent time in Mexico City (he's part Mexican) until he was seven and then in Boston through the rest of his upbringing.

After starting his stand up career, he got writing jobs on Late Night with David Letterman, The Dana Carvey Show, The Chris Rock Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

And while he also had a show called "Lucky Louie" his new show on FX called simply "Louie" which he writes, acts in, directs and edits himself has achieved critical acclaim that is on par with how critics feel about his stand up.

WIth multiple classic shows on HBO, there are only a couple comedians these days that will cause such a stir and hype around a special than Louis CK (maybe Dave Chappelle.) What's also worth mentioning is that Louis CK has done a great job of managing his overexposure. He doesn't do too much press and shows up on the Late Night shows just enough to make sure people don't forget about him. And he also shows up just enough to test out his A+ material.

31 Epically Awesome Louis CK Quotes
To me the goal of comedy is to just laugh, which is a really high hearted thing, visceral connection and reaction. And any time I take laughs away on the show I have to replace it with something at least that high; it has to be that height. It can’t just be interesting. It has to be holy shit one way or the other; holy shit, that’s funny or holy shit that kind of scared me. I’ve been interested in scaring people too because it’s sort of, it runs by some of the same rules as laughing. Or oh my God, that’s so, I really feel that. Or what the fuck is this? I don’t understand this. These are all heightened responses and I have to be getting one of those. If it’s not funny it has to be super compelling in another way.
